To my children Isla and Niels,
I hope that your future is a safe one.
I hope that you are able to live independently, you can afford a comfortable life which in turn will enable you to also help others.
I hope that you find joy in those around you and the small things, after all, these are what matter.
I treasure our countryside and I hope that the future of this beautiful and precious resource is a positive one and that the decline in species that has happened over my life time has been held in check at a minimum but better still improved and that the agricultural practices have changed for the better, becoming an environmentally responsible model.
I hope that your voices are heard above the noise of politics and that the inequalities we see today between developing and developed nations are narrowed and a more tolerant and benevolent society exists.
I know that sometimes the world can feel like a bleak place, but it is also a very big place, full of wonder and natural resilience and good people who really do care.
I hope that you feel that you matter and that you can make a difference for your future and the future of our planet.
