Ella Frances Sanderson's Letter

My future children ,

I know you don't quite understand that I didn't start the fire as they say .
But I did try to put it out .
I have been doing my bit for the earth that gave me a home.
My voice has carried it like a pair of wings.
I have wrapped my words around it .
My heart has been in the community, saving waste .
I have been doing my bit for you .
For your future as well as mine.
So I can look you in eye when you ask me what I did to stop this.
I can say that I tried.
