Dear 80-year-old Becky,
As you’re sat in your chair, reading the paper (albeit I imagine within the metaverse or through tech yet to be invented!), here are my hopes for the 2077 headlines.
‘LOWEST AVERAGE TEMPERATURE RECORDED FOR 5th CONSECUTIVE YEAR’
‘FALL IN SEA LEVELS MEANS CITIES BREATHE SIGH OF RELIEF’
‘PUFFINS RETURN IN THEIR DROVES TO THE UK THIS SUMMER’
‘MONUMENT MARKS 30 YEARS SINCE LAST CLIMATE-RELATED FLOODING DISASTER’
‘FORESTS FULLY-RECOVER FROM HISTORIC WILDFIRES’
To make these headlines a reality, the UK Government and governments across the world will need to act now. Not next week, not next year, now.
I really hope they listen.
Otherwise, I fear what 2077 will look like.
